Rapper Travis Scott has been released from jail with no changes after being taken into custody earlier this week for an alleged attack on a security guard at the five-star George V hotel on Friday morning.
Sources close to the rapper told The Hollywood Reporter that there are no plans for him to be charged in the future and there were no injuries to any party, including Scott’s security. The rapper had been swarmed by fans and paparazzi all week while he was in Paris, and he blamed his bodyguard for not adequately protecting him.

In several videos on social media, Scott was seen pleading with police to help him with the paparazzi and fans. Instead, the officers overreacted, arrested and held him for 24 hours over a verbal argument, the sources said, claiming no violence occurred.
“I can confirm that on August 9, 2024, police officers were called to the George V hotel and arrested the rapper nicknamed Travis Scott for assaulting a security guard,” the Paris prosecutor’s officer said in a statement on Friday, following Scott being taken into custody.
Scott allegedly attacked the guard after he attempted to break up an altercation between the 33-year-old rap star and his bodyguard. Referencing the guard, the prosecutor’s office said “the latter himself had intervened to separate the rapper from his bodyguard. The Paris public prosecutor’s office has referred the case to the 1st district of the judicial police.”
French prosecutors told the Reuters and AFP news agencies they had opened a criminal investigation into “unspecified violence” against the guard.
Scott has not yet commented on the Paris arrest. A rep for Scott said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter: “We are in direct communication with the local Parisian authorities to swiftly resolve this matter and will provide updates when appropriate.”
Earlier in the evening, Scott attended the semifinal of the men’s Olympics basketball, where the French basketball team beat Germany to advance to face the U.S. in the final. Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Scott described the match as “f**king wildddddd.”
The FranceInfo radio network, quoting sources close to the incident, said at the hotel Scott appeared to be heavily drunk and agitated and refused to cooperate with taking a breathalyzer test.
The 10-time Grammy winner was arrested in Miami less than two months ago for disorderly intoxication and trespassing after getting into a dispute with a boat crew on a chartered yacht. Scott was released on bond after paying $500 on the disorderly intoxication charge and $150 on the trespassing charge. His attorney said that the incident was a simple “misunderstanding.”
