Paramount+ U.K. & Ireland have recommissioned psychological thriller series The Ex-Wife for a season two.
Supergirl‘s Katie McGrath has joined the cast in the lead role of Jen, while Celine Buckens (War Horse, The Castaways) and Tom Mison (Sleepy Hollow, Watchmen) reprise their roles of Tasha and Jack. Jordan Stephens (Tucked, Foundation) returns to play Sam.
The first season, based on Jess Ryder’s book of the same name that released in October 2022, focused on a young woman, Tasha, who was married to middle-aged Jack. While their marriage appeared happy, Tasha was haunted by Jack’s ex-wife, Jen, with whom he still had a close relationship. As a myriad of lies over fertility and infidelity ensued, the show culminated in a devastating car accident in which the couple’s young daughter Emily is believed to have been killed.

Season two, which has commenced filming in Cyprus, will pick up three years after the dramatic conclusion of series one, with Tasha hiding on the island with her daughter Emily, while Jen has moved on and is preparing to get married. Living under false identities, Tasha has started a new life for herself and Emily. “However, Tasha is forced to abandon her fresh start when she learns that Jack has been released from prison early having only served a year of his sentence,” a plot synopsis reads. “Jack appears to be a changed man, but who can each of them really trust, and can anyone truly change?”
The four-part series is a co-production between Clapperboard Studios, Blackbox Multimedia and Night Train Media, who controls worldwide distribution rights with All3Media International.
“I am thrilled to be teaming up with Clapperboard, Blackbox Media and Night Train again for a second series of The Ex-Wife,” said Sebastian Cardwell, Paramount’s deputy chief content officer in the U.K. “The first series was a huge success and this time we promise viewers even more twists and turns! I can’t wait to see this incredible cast bring the next installment of this drama to life.”
